NewArts a Canadian charity is launching the first-ever Climate Arts Awards to recognize artists and arts organizations who are changing the narrative on climate change. This will be an annual event with an Academy Awards feel.

The event is being held at CBC Glenn Gould Studio Sunday, September 15, 2019, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on the final day of TIFF. Although this is not an official TIFF event, we believe we have a unique opportunity for exposure to an international audience.

The show will be hosted by award-winning Canadian comedienne and actor Luba Goy of CBC's Air Farce and other well known Canadian celebrities whom we are currently approaching to participate in various capacities.

Each participating arts organization will be provided with up to 10 minutes on stage to perform and present their ideas for changing the narrative on climate change. The event is free for participants.

This can be done through short film presentations, live performances of dance, music, spoken word, acting and displays of visual arts. We invite artists and arts organizations to stretch the boundaries of what is possible inviting solutions and visualizing what the world can be like or what we want to avoid. We strive to inspire the audience to make changes in their daily life and their attitudes towards the environment.  Please submit an online application providing photos, videos and a description of your project. Successful applicants will be notified prior to the event via email. All participants will showcase their presentations and receive an award at the Climate Arts Awards ceremony.
